Food Exchange

Many of us have heard and made jokes about "starving students". Unfortunately, this is sometimes more than a cultural cliche. These jokes are often a sad truth for many students.

On the Salmon Arm campus, the OCSU offers a food exchange service to our memebers to help ease the difficult times in between paychecks, or student loans.

It is clear that the costs that students bear in pursuit of a post-secondary education are unacceptably high. Some students are forced to quit, or graduate with ballooing debt loads. This free services has been in place at the Salmon Arm Campus for a number of years and has been, and continues to be, one of our most frequently used services.

Until we achieve a fully funded, accessible and affordable system of post-secondary education across Canada, we must be sure that our members can make it to their classes without an empty stomach. If you are a student on the Salmon Arm campus, struggling to cope with the overwhelming costs living expenses and tuition, we encourage you to make use of the Food Exchange.

How it works:

The Food Exchange is a service based on donations collected throughout the year from various charitable donations, and is available for all students who need it.

It is conveniently located in the Student Lounge, and the shelves of our Food Exchange are open with no judgement, so take what you need, and leave what you can.
