Rise Up for Affordable Education
Education is a right, not a privilege. For too long, post-secondary students in BC have shouldered the burden of rising tuition fees. The Rise Up Campaign, led by the British Columbia Federation of Students (BCFS) in partnership with other students’ unions, is calling for immediate action to address these financial challenges to make education accessible and equitable for all students.
A Brief Introduction to the Realities of the International Student Experience
BC’s Post Secondary funding structure is failing, which means its failing students. Institutional funding across BC is down to around 50% and international students’ tuition has risen 64% since 2006 in order to pick up the slack. International Students are paying 3-5X more in fees than domestic students and have no protection or accountability from our institutions. We got together with other student associations in BC this summer and told the government to fix it.
